I was there the first night it showed in Canada, with a female friend. I never bothered to watch the show while it was on TV, but caught up with a lot of it when a satellite channel ran a "marathon" of the first few seasons. And then never saw it again until the movie.

I agree, the shoes and the clothes aren't the norm around here, but I suppose the wardrobe is real life for some women.

The SATC lifestyle was more my lifestyle than that of most of my friends. But a lot of that was because my female friends, with one exception, were married and monogamous. I had a few friends in nearby Big City, 'tho, whom I kept in touch with, who were leading a similar lifestyle. So as far as I'm concerned, the movie was pretty typical of life as it is or was for some women.

So watching the satellite marathon was "validating" for me. (God, I hate that word!) Despite my lack of Manolos, there actually *were* other women in the world like me.

So seeing the film was a continuing validation of who I was, and the things I did, earlier in my life. Looking back, 'tho, I think despite the age of the actresses, the film had more validity for women younger than I. I think I might have been the oldest woman in the theatre.
