With more concrete all over the place, the high temperatures aren't nearly as tolerable as they used to be, with the heat radiating back into a clear desert sky at night. It's not uncommon these past few years for Phoenix to be still over 100F at 10 PM, and I think Tucson has been over 90F at 10 PM as well this year.
So much for the old 30-degree drop that we used to have!
