There's a report today in one of Vancouver BC's daily newspapers about a woman with a prosthetic leg who pointed out to two fully able young men that they were parking in a handicapped spot next to the one she'd just parked in. She says she was only in the handicapped spot herself because she was experiencing stump pain that day. Despite the fact that she lifted her floor length skirt to show them that she had a prosthetic leg, they grabbed her, shoved her around a bit, and then slammed her car door on her leg *twice* (but it doesn't say whether it was the "replacement" leg or the other one.) However, she has bruises, so I'm assuming it was her "real" leg.
Police are circulating sketches, but I think there's little chance they'll be caught. And if they are? Probably six months probation. That will be it.
This isn't "the land of the free from criminal attack." Until we toughen things up, it will just get worse.
