There are several reasons why . . .

I didn't intervene, beyond the fact that it was an extremely hot day and I didn't want to miss my taxi.
1. The woman was having enough trouble already, restraining the kid.
2. The mother would probably have been the only identifiable witness, and I don't think she'd be likely to testify against her own kid.
3. I've already been the victim of enough physical assaults in my life, and I'm not going to expose myself to any more.
4. Legally, the kid is a juvenile. Under our law he can't even be charged until he's twelve years old, and he obviously wasn't twelve.
