My guess is that your comments came in a "lecture" format which often appears to put the two communicators in an uneven position; the lecturer knowing better how to run a life than the listener.
In my view, this is a fairly common role that people take in conversations, especially folks that want to "fix" things for their listener.
It can be most uncomfortable for the listener and engender a defensive reaction.
Isadora has often asked us to speak for ourselves about our own experience which is basically what you did but what you said had an edge of superiority as you told her how to go about dealing with her list as if you somehow knew better than she did how to live her life.
In my opinion, someone who in actuality *does* inspire people will speak humbly about their life and will take care not to appear better than others by giving directions to them unless they specifically ask for directions.
