I am working on one project at a time. My current one is your number 2, design and build my own house. I have the site prepared, my own design, and all the materials for the "dry in" shell (frame, roofing, and siding). The roof and siding are steel so I don't have to worry about forest fires. Much of the interior will be done with my own trees that I will fall, mill, and shape. It will be powered by the sun, wood, and a little bit of propane for the cookstove. Go for it!
