Woke up with it one morning several years ago. Didn't even know what it was until I hobbled into my doctor's office. I just knew that I had massive pain down the hip and back of one leg. I couldn't go to work for five days because I couldn't climb the stairs. This was in the days before legally-required access for people with disabilities, so there was no elevator. I was given massive doses of Tylenol 3s and muscle relaxants. I wouldn't want to go through it again.
