Is it worth it?

How does one get back the idea that love is good and worth while? I've been alone for a long time, almost 10 years, for a number of reasons including self image/esteem issues, time constraints, bad prior experiences and the like. I've done a real good job of talking myself into thinking that love is not a worth while endeavor for me. I tell myself things like I have nothing to offer anyone anymore, I've been alone too long, it would take too much effort and a lot of other shit as well. Deep down, you know, I am lonely, very, very lonely. So now when I think of acutally trying to go out and find someone, I almost have a panic attack. It's really something. It reenforces one of my biggest beliefs; no one can convince you of something as well as you can. Therapy is in the forefront of my mind but there are certain impracticalities about it that put it out of my reach for the near future. So, what can I do? Has anyone in here been through this and over come it? Help!!
