I was recently in our Canadian(I think) department store called Home Outfitters(a conglomerate of the Hudson's Bay Company)and I saw these nifty little silicone brushes they were selling for dusting blinds, etc. I bet those would pick up hairs as I think I've also seen silicone brushes to lift shedding hairs from dogs and cats. I bet the pet stores have them as well. Sounds like you got things cleaned up already, but it might be worth looking into for future reference.
