Believe me, I think there are landlords around who'd rather rent to dogs than some of their owners (OK, I know I'm gonna get slammed by someone for raising the idea that dogs are "owned." So let's take it as read.) The problems aren't the fault of the dogs, it's the fault of the owners. I'm a dog person, too. Here it's virtually impossible to have a dog unless you're a homeowner. People either won't take dogs at all, or will only take small dogs. The logic of that escapes me. However, there is one *glorious* retirement home which will take both you and your pet. So many older people have to surrender their pets to shelters because the retirement home they're going into won't accept pets. It's a tragedy. It's hard enough for someone to "go into the home" without also having to give up a pet to an unknown future. I can't imagine having to do that, which is why when the late Harry the Infamous Cat died, I didn't replace him. I couldn't face going into a retirement home and surrendering a much-loved pet.
