barking dog

I am at home on break with my Corgi, while my kid is back in school already. The apartment next door is being fixed up since the old tenants moved out last week.
The dog will bark when people move past our apartment, but didn't when the old neighbors would come and go from their apartment. Having read that it is an instinctual and basically helpful behavior, my tact has been to acknowledge the heads up with a comment and praise and then stop her if it goes on for much more than that. The dog's reaction is usually to proudly trot over and accept the praise and then calm down, which is a better outcome than when I was just scolding for the barking.
However, the dog keeps restarting the barking every time any worker comes or leaves the next door apartment and even when they are simply working on anything on the other side of my living room wall and it is starting to get really annoying. Any suggestions?
Actually, I've just crated her and she's now napping with her chew toy right next to me, so maybe I've already found the solution.
