Personally I wouldn't install beta software either. To me beta software from major companies (unless I have some incentive to work for you like some perqs the general users won't get) is their way of saying "we know it's not done and has a lot of kinks, but we're too cheap to pay people to fix it and iron out the kinks, so if you download it early you can help us fix it". Nope, not me. There are already too many businesses that expect me to do the job of their employees for free.
That's the same reason why I try to insist on going to a lane with a cashier at the grocery store. Back home we had grocery stores where you were expected to bag your own groceries; they were called Shop N Save & charged less than the place a block away that did it for you. If I have to pay the same price whether you do your job or not (whether it be for Windows Vista or groceries); you're doing it, not me.
