We don't have the cable option out here in the boonies. Whether it's cheaper or not is moot. We pay DISH $500/yr for their middle package, including 5 local feeds out of Orlando. Have no idea what a comparable cable package would run.
The time difference I noted is for direct feed to the TV - no DVR's or TIVO or anything else in the hookup. Granted, we're all going to have a delay from the instant an event is broadcast until we see it on our TV screen; the satellite feed is further delayed by the time it takes the signal to go up to the satellite and return to my antenna.

The delay is odd as well, the only time I've had a delay is when I have one tv airing regularly & one on a DVR. Even then I haven't noticed it on the cable DVR, just on the Tivo.
