I saw an article on this subject related to Avogadro's Number when I took chemistry in graduate school. A given volume of air contains 6.02214179(30)×1023 molecules. This constant is not limited to atmospheric gases, but is the number of molecules in one mole.
The number is huge and the study I read estimated how many molecules are in a typical breath, how many breaths in a day, a year, a lifetime. Then there is the dispersion effect over time that estimates how long it takes molecules to completely mix and move around. The example given was to estimate how much of the air we breathe in would have been breathed in and out by Julius Caesar, but it works for any figure alive about 2000 years ago.
