A new "community policing station" has just opened up in a community centre a few blocks from where I live, and they can't find civilian volunteers--they've advertised and had no responses. I just got a call from the RCMP "Would you be interested? We're desperate." Sort of a downer, in a way, that I seem to be the bottom of the barrel. Probably should tell them that I don't plan to make coffee and I don't do donut runs. OTOH, I owe these guys a lot for the support and protection they gave me over many years of dealing with the "abusive ex."
But if I get issued with handcuffs, I'll meet anyone interested, in another area of the forum. And I'll see if I can score one of those skintight red tunics. ;-)
