Captain_Jack raises a good point. At least in Virginia, where I live, to enforce the trespassing law, the property must be posted against trespassing, or the individual must have been specifically warned against trespassing. Thus, a person who is banned from a particular store by personal notice can be prosecuted for trespassing even when the place is otherwise open to the public. Or, if there are signs that clearly say "No Trespassing" then everyone is warned.
