Actually, I think that buttresses the argument. Horses are domesticated animals, and aren't forced to compete in the wild for food, shelter, etc.
The post below that point out that other predators at the top of the food chain may have more leisure time is another important point.
Maybe a way to summarize is that only those animals that are so successful as to have leisure or play time can afford to engage in nonprocreative sex.
In a human-centric world, of course, we would see ourselves as the most successful species at the moment.
