I've wondered about this for myself-- is poly a hard-wired sexual orientation for me, or just a choice that fits my personality and (hard-wired?) social orientations? I know that living polyamorously is a choice for me, as was monogamy for the first 17 years of my marriage. When I chose polyamory, though, it felt like I had shed an itchy wool blanket for my natural skin.
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this.
