I read your six "myths". While re-reading, I realized that these are only myths if you believe open marriage can be good for a relationship.
Those six concerns are very real, for those that think they are, to their own situation.
"Myth #1. "Open relationship" is just another name for cheating.
For those that wouldn't even want to HEAR about open relationships, that's exactly how they feel.
Myth #2. People in open relationships are avoiding intimacy/don't really love their partner.
Because many people don't have any idea how anyone could be intimate with anyone but their partner.
Myth #3. People in open relationships are promiscuous.
This is ingrained. Many people believe one would HAVE TO be promiscuous in order to have sex with more than one person at a time in their life.
Myth #4. Open relationships do not work- for anyone.
Most people don't have the information needed to debunk this.
Myth #5. Open relationships are all about sex.
People believe this one because the concept of polyamory simply escapes them. They have no idea about it, because it's not an option in their life.
Myth #6. Open relationships trivialize marriage.
People might think that because they know how they would respond, and how uch their marriage would have to be in trouble before it could even be considered.
Multiple sex partners is just NOT an option for all. A marriage would, I think, have to be VERY strong, or very weak, before open marriage could work. I would think most that try it think their marriage is one of the strong ones, but many people believe it would have the least chance of working if your marriage is strong. They believe one couldn't possibly want to be intimate with anyone but their SO if the relationship is strong.
