And don't forget:
Peru, Indiana is known as PEE-roo Berlin, Ohio is BER-lun Botetourt County, Virginia is BOT-uh-tot
If you are from southern Ohio, ones says A-hy-ah and pronounces Parkersburg (WV) as PARK-ees-burg
And who can forget the collective pronoun used in the Pittsburg area, "yins", to mean all of you or you all or y'all as said in the south. They sell t-shirts in Pittsburg that proclaim the wearer is a Yinzer.
My favorite of all was a name my grandmother butchered. She may have been dyslexic, for all I know. A small drive-in cafe opened near where she lived and the sign said "Parkette." For years she called it the Parakeet. We kids would snicker and try not to make fun of this, but it was hard.
