Subject    Re: Woman with a high-capacity for multiple orgasams

There are many methods of research and each kind has guidelines and principles that need to be followed to ensure validity. These different types of studies yield different kinds of results. It would be inappropriate to make generalizations based on a case study. But that doesn't mean that there aren't any valid uses for the information.

This paper focuses on her current orgasmic capacity, the factors affecting it, and Anonymous (AN's) experiences and emotional responses related to it....It is apparent both from the available literature and from this study that a woman's capability to have multiple orgasms is dependent on a combination of developmental, psychological, and psychosocial conditions. It is unknown if there are unique physiological and biochemical enabling mechanisms. AN has consented to have laboratory tests and brain imaging performed and currently efforts are made to carry these out.

A case study like this can be valuable to researchers in the future. It can provide information that helps in the formulation of hypotheses that then can be tested to make generalizations. It can give insight into what methods would be appropriate for testing those hypotheses. I know there are other appropriate uses of information gleaned from case studies (It's been a long time since my last methods class and I haven't ever used that training in my professional life), but they are often a first step (legwork) in the research process.

Wouldn't a study like this require many women, some for a "control" and some with no sex drive at all? A few that never experience orgasm and a few that are multiorgasmic? I wonder what one woman can enlighten them about.
