Still alarming, though there's some hope

Despite the fact that "one day" is probably too short, it sounds to me like there still is a window between infection and positive ELISA test that can't be closed. This article implies that viral load is extremely high in the weeks immediately following infection, which is very troubling. The good news is that there seem to be tests that can detect the virus much sooner after infection.
Still, short of that, there really are no guarantees -- though personally, I'm more creeped out by the fact that there's no way of testing donated blood for Cruetzfeldt-Jakob disease.
