Re: Question for Isadora/re Bob's HIV post
|
| |
Isadora's post is correct. Rather than say women are more more likely to get infected, it's more accurate to state the the RECIPENT is more likely to get infected. When I say recipent, I mean the person receiving the seamen, which includes a male receiving anal sex.
And both men and women receving anal sex have a more likely chance of getting infected than a woman receiving vaginal sex. This is because the rectum is more vascular and is more likely to bleed and become traumazied during sex, thus, increasing the risk of infection.
This is one of the reasons that when HIV/AIDS first started, we discovered it more in gay men. However, now days a lot of gay men are more educated and are no longer the highest risk group. The last I heard, the group that is the highest risk group is uneducated black women. When I was in nursing school ten years ago, it was Mexican women.
These are excellant questions. Safe sex and education is the key to prevent infection. In California, we have HIV/AIDs clinics that have the most recent information. Don't ever be afraid to seek out more information.
