The (Un)Popularity of Anal sex

In an post a few days ago I wondered about the popularity of anal sex. I remembered one of the recent, classic, and respected studies in this area--The Social Organization of Sexuality, by Laumann et al, (c) 1994, so I got it from the library.
Without going into a whole lot of statistical detail, it turns out that anal sex is not very popular among men, and even less popular among women. (NOTE: Ask Isadora participants may well be statistically different from "the average person".)
