It's undoubtedly true that all the energy (and drinking etc) that goes into chasing women, is one thing responsible for lousy performance the following day.
But as I recall, there's also a Freudian component to this stuff--the idea that if you're sexually frustrated, you sublimate that energy into other pursuits, e.g. killing the other team.
