If I block someone's e-mail to me . . .

will it still show up as, for example, "2 new" in my mail account when my inbox is empty? Don't usually have a huge number of e-mails in the inbox, am pretty conscientious about filing or trashing stuff. Haven't done this before, so I don't know. Many thanks.
