Okay, Forum oldtimers. Here is the URL for the initial trial of the new Forum: http://66.120.179.179 (I'm sorry, I still don't know how to create a live link) There is a spot to post your feed back - what's good, what's too difficult, what you would like to have that isn't there. It's still beinng worked on so let's see what you have to say.

I visited and I began the registration process. So far, so good, but there is little to comment on as yet. The forums are a bit contracted from the ones here, but "sexuality" and "other matters" covers a pretty broad spectrum!

Hello Isadora, I was not able to log in. Is there a log in? I was able to read columns, however after I had clicked one the first one, it slowed dramatically. It took several seconds to open the others. I will recheck tomorrow.. the delay could have been from my computer. Thanks, Sirtec

I think the need for separate categories other than those shown isn't necessary, it's all sexuality and categorizing just makes jumping around unnecessary. Didn't notice anywhere in the registration process about personal information like the old profiles, sometimes it was good to see the profile so we knew more about the poster. Age, orientation, relationships status etc. I can't wait to see it in use, and hope things remain the same for the most part.

I registered and am awaiting an Email with instructions. I didnt find the registration process difficult. I see there are 5 groups, which looks good. I am glad you saved the humour section as I often do enjoy going in there. The "Other matters" is also nice to see, I think this is a good idea, it is a little bit of a break where friends can chat about other then sex. I think the current areas of non-traditional sex; Monogamy and Gay can easily be included in a general sexuality section so this is good. I dont see alot of difference really....other then more security when you register (eg: giving your last name) Personally I have no problem with that but you dont see that often on the web. Im looking forward to moving over and VERY grateful that the site is continuing.....I am actually amazed at myself just at how often I come on this site. Hugs C

The only thing I ran into is when I registered I got the first email fine but the second email telling me that I am in, was missing my password that I chose. It had my username but no password. I was able to log in just fine though.

I think I will pass, thank you. I receive too many catalogs and too much crap e-mail to furnish my first and last names to yet another potential re-seller. You see it as a security measure, I see it as an intrusion. Let's part ways as friends as I hum Thanks for the Memories....

I have been a member for 10 years or more and have yet to get anything mailed to me from this site. Because of the nature of this site, Isadora has to protect herself. I protect my information more than anyone, but she doesn't have ulterior motives, I think. Since you won't even tell us whether you are male or female in your profile, I would call yours paranoia. Bye. Good luck.

Asking for names IS a security measure. You will receive no mail from me or anyone else via this site. I don't sell anything but my books and they are listed discretely here. Anyone will be able to read the new Forum, but to post I will require the necessary information to weed out trolls and spammers.

I'm registered and love that forum set-up. I am a memeber at another forum that runs much the same way. It's nice to be able to edit your posts, and to have a quote function.

Still waiting for my approval email, the only thing that I noticed really that you might think about is the placement of the 'login' and 'regsiter' It was easy to go through the process, but I think it could be little larger and not placed so far off to the right. Other than that, I think it is fine as long as you are happy with it. Are we still going to have the 'Graduate' that will be available? I like that board if I want feedback from those that have been here longterm and whose opinions I have come to trust.

I am still awaiting a response to get into the new site, but it seems to have the basics. Many thanks for making this happen. I liked the section under FAQ that listed various topics with a response from you. Under your columns, I liked how you have headlines for the column. Much more tempting to click through and read. The spacing is too wide, though. It would be better if they weren't so far apart, I think. I noticed lots of extra spacing throughout the test site. I think it would look better if there were fewer spaces and be more user friendly. Now this is just personal, but I liked having the features menu on the left, rather than across the top. As for asking for someone's real identity, I think it might dissuade some troublemakers, but it also might scare off folks who may have legitimate questions. Those folks can still view stuff, I suppose. Personally, I've been here long enough to know that Isadora is discreet and trustworthy, but I don't know that I would have reacted the same way when I had first signed up. Plus, what's to stop someone from giving you a fake name?

seeing who's on line at any given time - or who has read a post, or........ there are so many things we have here that we take for granted. this first one is the most easily navigable framework i've seen on a forum platform. i can skitter around this site with just a few clicks and find what i want. time will tell how efficient the new place will be.

I don't know when the new site will be up as completed and this one down. I don't know why you haven't got your registration info yet. I don't even know how the new site will look when it's "done". I post info as I get it from my technical advisor and I am no technophile, so be patient please. You all know things as soon as I do.

Because everyone likes so much the way THIS site is organized, why do you wish to change it?

New Post

Not everyone likes it the way it is. There are changes I wish to make, not the least of which is moving on from eLine. There are other reasons. Just accept that it's time for a change after almost 15 years.

would it be better if we use the tech support board on the test site? that way as the builders are working on it they can read it there and you would not have relay the messages from here.

I will check it all out and keep watching in the days and weeks ahead. I've been on other sites of similar design. I've always liked "this" format better - seems more user friendly - but maybe I'm just used to it. Ko

Lucky, why do you label it as PARANOIA, when someone is just showing concern? It may NOT well be the case of this site, but may I remind you that ANYTHING and EVERYTHING YOU PUT on the net IS PUBLIC... FOR E V E R.

Someone was concerned about giving personal info as.. your name, required in the new registration. Someone also called it "paranoia". I have visited the new site and wrongly assumed that our registration and ID was just transferred onto the new site. Now, I will visit the new site again but giving my name, well, I have a problem with that also, since if I may remind some of you that anything and everything we put on the net it becomes PUBLIC for EVER. All of my personal info (and other peoples) that is needed to purchase a home it was sold by an unscrupulous employee of the company that I dealt with. The result was that six peoples ended up fired and two in jail... good, but my several important info are still out, you can imagine steps that I had to take, or some that you may not even imagine and that will affect me for, well I don't really know how long! Now think, (my apology Isadora). Someone, years from now gets all of your posts and makes a nice profile of what you think and how you act and oh yes pares it up with your name. Hummm, yeah not possible, it's just paranoia. The names are required because of trolls and abuser of the post/site? Sirtec.

I haven't been able to figure anything out on your questions at the new site. I'd like to see a users directory and a users list of those online like here. I can't figure out how to mail another user at the new site.

Isadora, I tried to register last night and made a typo in my email address. The address is not correct so I cannot link to the message that is sent to a new registrant. When I tried to fix it this AM, the database tells me that the user name Vance is taken. Can you have my entry deleted so that I can do this correctly on a second pass? Please advise. Thank you.

ugh. I'm sorry. But for all these years, I have ALWAYS thought this site format was the BEST and all the others that look like the 'test site' were hard to get into and bored me. I have never gone back to visit them after the original sign up. ugh. I know I'm old and don't do change well...but...Why can't the same format be used, just tweeked? Is it an E-Line copyright thing? ugh. I guess I really don't have room to complain. I haven't had much involvment the past couple of years. But, I was trying to work myself back into the mix. :( Pardon my hissy-fit. I'll go back and see what I can learn. luckyscore mentioned a profile. I haven't found that, yet. In the FAQ section they mention archives. Will there be any? I don't know if it's just my computer settings, or what, but the the registration and log in links are off screen. ok...I'm off to do more investigating.

Hi all. I appreciate all the effort you are making in testing out the new site, and I also appreciate your opinions and critiques. Since the issue of privacy has come up several times, I'd like to address that directly. First off, as Isadora says, we will never sell your information. We need your email address to confirm the registration process, which is set up the way it is to keep spam bots and trolls out. Beyond that, we're doing nothing with your information. We're not doing any validation to prove you're who you say you are. So, if you're not comfortable giving us your real name - DON'T. Use an initial, or use a completely different nom de plume. Want to be Hugh G. Dick? OK. Want to be I.P. Freely? Fine. It's entirely up to you. I hope that helps to ameliorate the privacy concerns. AskAdmin aka Hugh, aka I.P. aka etc.....

I'll see what I can do about a users online list and a directory. For now, you can PM anyone who has posted to the sexuality forum by clicking on their name and selecting "Message User" from the profile info (it's on the second row). AskAdmin

I can post. But I can't get to anything but the "Home" page unless I go through the "Search" feature, which brings me to a page that has options. The "Home" page has no options but "Search" that brings me to any place else.
